How To Make Money Blogging, Understanding Part 1

If you want to know how to make money blogging then listen very carefully. You can have a blog about anything, but to be able to earn money online it will need to be about something that will convert into dollars.

Most beginners online fall prey to the make money fast syndrome and get overloaded with information and buy programs without a clue of how to implement them and never get a start on actually making money online.

Do you want to be a salesman, or do you want people to buy stuff from your Blog without ever having to talk to them?

This is a simple as it gets. People search online for something, a list of search results are displayed on the front page. Is your blog on the front page? When people go to the search engines and type in a word for what they are looking for the search engines will return a list of results for that search term. You can use the free Google keyword tool to find out how many (approximate) searches for a term like, How To Make Money Blogging gets each month. The first thing you will want to do is filter your results. If you look at where the #2 arrow points, you will want to change this from broad to exact match. Then where the # 1 arrow points you will want to show cost per click (CPC) and hide the monthly average display.

If you are going to take the time to put up any website or blog and your intention is to earn money blogging then you will need to understand how important keyword selection is. If you blog about things that do not draw any interest then how will you make any money?

If you look at that last picture you can see that the average advertiser spends up to $5.66  per click for this keyword (how to make money blogging) and that there are about 2,400 searches for that term each month. And you also see that problogger.net is #1 for that search term and #2 also, so lets go look at his site and see whats there.

If you go to this site you will find that it is monetized with several affiliate marketing programs and also has fair quality information on blogging. This is a great balance of appearance and knowledge together. Now people searching for How to make money blogging go to this site because it shows up on the front page of search.

Then this site potentially sells them a program on how to make money blogging, but are they making money from blogging or are they making money from selling stuff on how to make money blogging? What is the difference?

When you looked at ProBlogger did you  realize that it is not monetized with Adsense from Google? The reason for this is probably not having a targeted enough page for the keywords that he had ranked for so he didn't make any money on the clicks if he received any. So he is doing better with affiliate marketing.

I do not know if this is good or bad, but setting a site up to be able to perform well with Adsense will help you cover all the bases for any other form of promotion. It just targets your visitors better, if your site varies page to page on content but each page is optimized for your targeted keyword than displaying adsense will give you the most relevant ads and your click commission will be the highest as long as you are only displaying one post page at a time.

If you are going to get any traffic to your site then you need to be on the front page of the search results. You can do this two ways, Organic, or Paid. In this screen shot green is Organic or natural search and the sponsored ads on the right are paid ads. They also appear at the top some of the time.

When you have a relevant page on your site that ranks on the first page and you have adsense on your site, those advertisers that used content network in their advertising with the search engine, those ads can be displayed on your site. When a targeted visitor searching for that term came to your site if they clicked on an adsense ad, Google pays you part of the advertiser click cost. I do not know the exact % but I do know it is better if your page is optimized for that search term.

Obviously this niche, how to make money blogging has some competition and where there is competition there is money being made. That makes it pretty easy to determine what to go after for a niche. The Making Money Online niche seems to have so many takers, even me, but the free tools and the demand  for the knowledge is so large that I can't help myself but to compete in this market.

There are several different blogging platforms that you can use to start your making money from blogging career. The one that I would suggest is Blogger.com It's quick and easy and it is also free. Be sure and go to Blogger.com open an account and then decide on a niche that you want to blog about.

Be sure and decide the niche before you start your blog. It is very important that you have your main targeted keyword in your blog title, and also use it, and relevant keywords in your post titles. This will help the optimization and rankings of your pages.
