How To Make Money Blogging Part 2 Choosing A Niche

So you think you want to learn how to make money blogging. I hope you are cut out for a little work and I have hopes that you don't mind learning new stuff because learning and lot's of hard work are just the beginning requirements to be able to make money online or anywhere for that matter.

The first component of blogging will be to have a topic to blog about. You can have a blog about multiple topics or you can have a blog about a specific topic, and focus on that niche and directly related content with it (this is my choice). I do not know the answer for sure of which way would be better. Here I went with this one, make money, that way I Focus all my content on this term and terms related to it.

The hardest part of blogging is coming up with content, like this post you are reading, little alone good content. The main purpose of content is to give readers something of interest but also for the search engine spiders that crawl the web indexing pages and qualifying them for the keywords they consist of. I also I hope that this post has some value to it so just in case it gets read, not only will you continue reading it but that you might also learn something from it.

When I started blogging, which was just a couple of months ago, I never thought I would be able to get the results that I wanted to achieve but as I have forced myself to do it, It is getting much easier to sit down and do the content.

I spread myself out to thin early on and being focused on just a dozen sites instead of four dozen will make a big difference. Most Internet Marketers hide what they have going on but it is much easier to open it up and show it when it deals directly with how to make money online. Making money online is a huge niche that lots of people go after but without understanding what they need to do to achieve rankings for the keywords related to the subject.

Below is an example of a niche blog. I personally do not have much time to get all the content together for all my  niche sites so I go to website sales places like  SitePoint.com and look around to see what is available. I picked up this site the other day.

I thought it would be a good example of what a niche blog should look like. It is worth it to me for the fact that I don't have the time and I can sell it later. It will also be fun to promote it and see how much traffic I can drive to it through SEO (search engine optimization). The FatLoss niche is very competative so It will take some time before I start earning some coin with this site.

Regardless of weather you use a free blogging service, like blogger.com or have your own URL on paid hosting, the set up is about the same. The only difference is you can sell the one you own. I recommend you always use original content on your sites, and make it good, you won't regret it in the long run.

Here are some forms of monetization on this site that can generate revenue. Keep in mind that it doesn't matter what forms of monetization you have on your make money blog or website. If you do not have any targeted traffic to that site then you will not make any money.

You can be on the front page of search 2 ways, and I mentioned them in an earlier post, you can sign up with the Adwords program and bid on your keywords and pay per click for visitors, or you can blog about your topic and get first page rankings for your keywords and be on the front page for free.

Once you have established a blog, and have your first posts posted to your blog or website you will be able to start building back-links to your site. When you have good links coming to your site it helps it rank for those keywords.

Let's talk about this for a moment. My site, DirkPoulsen.com is my name, I do not want to rank for my name. Not enough people will be searching for my name and I won't be able to make any money ranking for my name so I do not want to use my name as the hyper link. I want to rank for other terms like make money so in this example it links to my site and helps my ranking for the term make money.

I also want to link from my older posts to my newer posts, this is called deep linking, the key here is to have a well rounded site that is easy to move through for the Googlebots and they can find all your pages and keywords. This really will help your rankings. The tag cloud on my site shows me the dominate keywords on my site.

I started this blog on 28 Feb 2009 so it has only been about 65 days and I already am on the front page of search on Yahoo #7 out of 38,600,000 for the term how to make money online for beginners.

So you can see that this keyword training and the proper keyword placement along with the correct content can really make a difference. There is so much to learn and so much to be absorbed it is mind boggling but if you take it a step at a time you will indeed have success. It may not come as fast as you want but persistence is the key.

My buddy Grizz  is #1 on that search, also he is #1 on Google for make money. If you read his blog he will show you everything you need to do to be able to make money blogging. Griz along with Mark & Court are all you need to break out of the not making any money online syndrome. If you are going to target a niche, you might as well dominate that niche.
